Meeting minutes for 1999.02.04, by KF6DMI Meeting called to order at 1935 hours. President's Report [KC6QOQ]: Got a message from Melissa Genera -- Do we wish to participate in this year's yearbook. [Keet] Only 50 people signed up to buy it. They've canceled production of the yearbook. Issue resolved. Department Secretary wants a list of member's e-mail so that they can be spammed by perspective employers. [KF6DMI] We should give them a central address that we can moderate, so that we don't annoy our members. We can then send the announcements out to local. Computer manager can set up alias. Kaliski announced that the DECStations in the EE computer lab will be phased out. Department can't get parts, and can't replace computers. EE Department will move to PC compatibles and load them with a UNIXish OS. Poly Plan ("What part of 'NO' don't you understand?"). Source indicates that Baker will do what he wants to. [Keet] State law only allows student to pay 33% of cost of education. We're already there, so fees can't be raised. Funds are currently going to be distributed according to how many students are in each major. It requires tuning. We got the incorrect boards for the SNR voting boards. Repeater time is still off. Intermod problem still exists. N6NL and company are going to get a plastic pipe and get mid-evil on the radio room's ass. Coke Manager [KQ6BX]: Still having problem with coin mechanism. Foundation has been out several times and claims that there is no problem. Council Rep: [KE6OMS sitting in for Keet during HAM class]: $10 for booth in National Engineer's week, during Farmer's Market. Poly trying to force all the Goth's off Garden St.. Feb 25 is the official W6BHZ Goth Dress Up Night. NIW: a free night at McPhees. Culture Fest: Open house type event on May 15. Ares Rep [KF6PKU]: Still Alive. It's 1999. Dues are due. Consensus is yes, which is tragic, as we have missed the sign up period. [KF6DMI] We can still get a booth, but we'll need to pay the late charge. [KE6OMS] Motion: Get power supply for Icom 2710. Allocate $115 for switching 12V output 110V input supply. This will be an on campus hunt, and KE6OMS will be the T. Members with extra HTs or scanners should bring them so that members without HTs can participate. end
