Some History About W6BHZ:

The Cal Poly Amateur Radio Club was founded in 1947. The original Application for Club Recognition has been electronically preserved. That's a little hard to read, so we've scanned it in and ran the OCR software to get the text only version.

Meetings are held at 7:30 on the first and third Thurday of each month in Engineering East (Building 20), room 127.

W6BHZ operates a repeater on 146.76 Mhz (negative offset) and 442.3 Mhz (positive offset). The repeater can also be linked, to the Western Amateur Linking Association (WALA) net, which provides costal coverage from Los Angeles to Berkeley and Lake Tahoe area. Controlling the repeater is the Link Communications RLC 3A, which provides club members many extras, including full-duplex autopatch and two-tone paging. The controller has an from which we can announce meetings and events and have a little fun with.

Here are some pictures of the shack: left, center, and right. These together will give you an idea of the operating station. We also have a close-up on some of our toys: Yeasu 990, Kenwood 440, and our 3500W Nissan Generator. A nice black and white photo of the tower was found in the file cabinet. Notice the bubble hasn't been installed yet (The bubble is working again!). Take a look at W6BHZ's most important piece of equipment.

A club e-mail alias server has been set up to ease mailings about club events. Current members and many alumni are on this list. To find out how to subscribe to our mailing lists, go to our main Refelctor page.
